About Texas Tri Delta

Theta Zeta chapter of Delta Delta Delta was founded in November of 1912 at the prestigious University of Texas at Austin and has since fostered sisterhood, leadership, and strength of character among its members. Texas Tri Deltas not only uphold our organization's ultimate purpose, but we also strive to be the most genuine and sincere women on the UT Austin campus. Our chapter stands out from others because of sisters who lead both in and out of the classroom, devote themselves passionately to our philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and develop a meaningful sisterhood. Texas Tri Delta has lived out our motto to "steadfastly love one another" for over 100 years!

Letter from the President

Hello!

My name is Tiffany Work, and I am honored to serve as Tri Delta’s President here at the University of Texas at Austin. Currently our chapter is home to over 240 collegiate women and continues to grow every year. We are all looking forward to the addition of another amazing pledge class this fall! For me, Tri Delta is a place where I can confidently be myself. I love seeing how each girl in this chapter has her own unique gifts and talents to contribute. Sharing sisterhood with these remarkable women is truly a blessing and a joy. I have the privilege of working closely with all of our officers to ensure that the organization holds true to Tri Delta’s values. Upon Tri Delta’s establishment in 1888, founder Sarah Ida Shaw laid the framework for our membership perfectly, saying: “let us found a society that shall be kind alike to all and thinks more of a girl’s inner self and character than of her personal appearance.” Sarah’s words encompass one of my goals as president: that our chapter would provide the opportunity for each member to develop both character and lasting friendships. I know I sure have!

One way our members form these steadfast bonds is through the support and involvement in Tri Delta’s national philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As a pre med student myself, I am excited and thankful to have the chance to work with such an inspiring institution. Texas Tri Delta is among the top fundraising chapters in the nation, and we are thrilled to be a part of raising money towards St. Jude’s research that finds cures for childhood cancer.

Members are involved in various other organizations across campus as well, enhancing the diversity of our chapter. Despite our different interests and pursuits, the unity we experience as members of Tri Delta enables us to navigate through our challenges and successes here at UT. Here I am continually reminded of the woman I want to become and am constantly encouraged by my Tri Delta family. I am thankful for memories made thus far and many more to come!

Hope you enjoy the website and Hook em Horns!

Delta Love,

Tiffany Work

"The name Tri Delta will be on the walls of St. Jude... and in our hearts...forever."
- Terre Thomas, daughter of St. Jude founder.

Our Philanthropy

Texas Tri Deltas are passionate about our mission to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. As our organization’s national philanthropy, St. Jude and Tri Delta have worked together for 24 years to treat children and find a cure for childhood cancer. In support of our fraternity’s efforts, every Tri Delta chapter across the country has joined forces to achieve the lofty goal of raising $15 million in 5 years.

Our chapter at the University of Texas raised more than $99,000 last year alone. Our members deeply care about and support the children of St. Jude and will continue to better the hospital and each patient’s life every day.

Texas Tri Delta hosts events each year to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. All proceeds directly benefit this national philanthropy. Our chapter sponsors unique initiatives that have successfully named us one of the top fundraising chapters in the country!

Texas Tri Delta Game Day

Hosted at a local restaurant, Tri Deltas sell tickets to this popular away game watching party to students and family. The day includes food, a sand volleyball tournament, and the best environment to cheer on the Horns!

Date - November 9, 2013

Sincerely Yours Letter Writing Campaign

Each spring Tri Deltas across the country write millions of letters in support of the children at St. Jude. Texas Tri Deltas take this opportunity to spread awareness of St. Jude and the hospital’s mission. Every member is required to send at least 50 letters to their friends and family encouraging them to donate to this worthwhile cause. As a top initiative, our chapter raised over $80,000 through this fundraiser alone last year.

Date - February 2014

Courtyard Cookout

Tri Delta Courtyard Cookout, hosted during UT Round Up, remains as one of the most popular philanthropy events on campus. With burgers, sodas, and a dunking booth, our chapter truly loves hosting this event. Each member’s love for St. Jude radiates during this fun-filled day.

Date - March 2014

Easter Eggstravaganza

To celebrate Easter our chapter invites all Theta Zeta alumnae and their children to the house for an Easter egg hunt and raffle benefitting St. Jude. Local Austin businesses donate popular items and gift certificates to help raise funds. Pictures with the Easter bunny, face painting, and cookie decorating add to the joyful afternoon.

Date - April 2014

Let us found a society that shall be kind alike to all and think more of a girl's inner self and character than of her personal appearance.

Common Questions

Recommendation letters can be acquired from any Tri Delta alumni, ideally someone in your area or who knows you personally.

PNMs should provide the alumna with a resume including greek affiliations, high school transcript with ACT or SAT scores, and three photos. Label the back of your photos with your name, grade classification, high school, and hometown.

PNMs may also request letters of support from other Tri Delta alumni to send in with their Rec letters. The Recommendation Letter and Letters of Support are separate. The Recommendation Letter is more formal and includes a specific form for the alumni to fill out, whereas the Letters of Support is more personal and is attached to the Rec to be sent in to the respective chapter.

The alumni should send the entire Recommendation package including Rec, transcript, letters of support, and pictures to Aleks Fuller, the Reference Chair by June 1. Any further questions regarding Recommendation letters or recruitment in general can be sent to texasdddrecruitment@gmail.com.

The Texas Tri Delta House

History of the House

The beautiful white-bricked house at 503 West 27th Street is a special place for many Texas Tri Deltas. Whether you lived in the house during college or you spent time in the dining room for dinner or meetings, the Tri Delta house is definitely a home away from home.

After purchasing the acre of land in 1938, C.H. Page & Son designed the French Second Empire Revival manor to house the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. The formal opening of the house on December 5, 1940 was celebrated in the back terrace with a live orchestra and dancing. Hundreds of guests joined in the festivities.

During the past seven decades, our house has hosted Recruitment parties, St. Jude events, Initiations, Ring Pass Ceremonies and even a Centennial! Originally housing only 32 Tri Deltas, the house has undergone many additions in order to accommodate our growing chapter. A coveted place to live during a member's time at UT, the Tri Delta house acts as a great place to study and relax with your sisters.

With beautiful and historical details such as the deltas etched in the front porch glass windows to the iconic yellow sunporch, the Delta Shelta has been home to many generations of Texas Tri Deltas and will continue to be a place of comfort and memories for all our members.

Theta Zeta Centennial

Texas Tri Delta celebrated our chapter’s 100th anniversary in November 2012. Chartered in 1912, the Theta Zeta chapter at the University of Texas at Austin has accomplished feats big and small over the past century. The momentous weekend was full of house tours, sister memories, old friends, and Texas Tri Delta pride. Collegians and alumni, alike, were excited to be a part of this once in a lifetime celebration! We can not wait for the next 100 years of Texas Tri Delta!

Thank you to all of our Centennial Posse Members! We could not have celebrated Theta Zeta's 100th anniversary without your help. These Deltas put in countless hours as Pledge Class Reps, Event Chairs, Posse Wranglers, Public Relations & Alumni Relations team members and Auction Chairs to make Theta Zeta’s Centennial gratifying and memorable. Thank you for your continued dedication to Texas Tri Delta!
